The Holidays are near, spread some cheer

I love this time of year. The sparkling lights are strung, the festive songs are playing, there are yummy festive hot chocaltes to drink! It's especially great this year because my main squeeze is here in LA to be celebratory with me. It will be our first Christmas that we physically get to spend together! The past two years he's been off being the super star that he is and I'm so proud of him. But thankfully this year it's all about family, friends and of course food! I can't wait to go home to see my family and friends, but first, off to Orlando for some time with Drew's family.

We've both been very fortunate this year and have been doing a lot of reflecting on that. It's been a really tough year for a lot of people and the lease I can do is give back a little. So this week, I went to a couple amazing events for some equally amazing causes.

The week kicked off with my pilot shoot! This has nothing to do with the holidays, but it was enroumoursly successful and we are hoping to have the show packaged and (fingers croseed) sold to E! international by early next year. We shot the very best material we could and I feel so good about it. Casey Cheek provided the gorgouse hair and make up, Kit Scarbo put together a rocking hott outfit for me, Sarah Knight was the best set photographer and then we have Mr. Ken Baker. The sweetest most sincere person I've ever met. If you are gonna have someone routing for you, this is the man you want. He made me feel every inch the superstar. I'm honored he chose me to host his show. It's a privelege to work with someone so positive and creative and just plain nice.

Moving right along, on Tuesday I went to my very first E! Holiday party. Let me tell you, Comcast knows how to throw a party! The erected a GIANT tent on the top of a parking garage in downtonw LA. It was amazing. THe city views were breath taking and the night was full of energy. I even rode the Metro for the first time ever in LA. Who says public traspo is bad in LA? It was so convienent, might make it a habit! I danced the night away with my boo, even got to the sprinkler with our Pres Ted Habert. I learned he loves to cut a rug and likes that old school soul music. He and Drew got along swimminling ;) Spent some time mixing and mingling with the gang, had some scrumptious desserts and called it a night.

If you know me you know how much I love animals. So, i was stoked to be invited to the charity Howliday event jingle bones to benefit the SPCA LA. There were so many cute doggies! I got to borrow one for a cute pic, isn't he a doll! I picked up a cool necktie for Monty so he can look his very best at grandmas for Christmas!

Thursday night we headed to the 2nd Annual LA Direct Remember to Give party, benefitting Ronald Mc Donald house. Such a great charity and we were happy to be able to donate some cool gifts. It was a fun way to be party of something really special for the holidays.

Lastly, thanks to our generous staff, E!NN was able to raise over $300 to ensure our adopted family has an amazing Christmas. I spent the week wrapping all the beautiful items we were able to get them. It really does warm your heart to know that one family will have a good holiday due to a very small sacrifice from a few people. It's easy to do. I encourage you to find a way to help someone this year. It's not about buying THINGS, its about making someone else smile. Looking beyond your own needs to bring some happiness to another human being.

Tis' the season, make it a good one :-)

Easy Breezy Beautiful!

I recently got the
amazing opportunity
to work with Drew Barrymore on her latest cover girl campaign. Here is a pic of me in a blond wig, that's because the last time I stood in for her, she and I had the same hair color. But you know us girls, gotta switch it up! She looks incredible as a blond or brunette.

Working with her again was an inspiration for me. To see an actress, who's been doing this literally her entire life, get excited about her latest gig is so refreshing. She was literally giddy to utter the famous phrase, Easy Breezy Beautiful. It was so cute. I loved seeing that excitement in her after all these years. It told me to be patient and let the universe unfold the way it should! OH, fun fact! We shot the commercial on same lot as the new J.O.N.A.S show and my first day, I strolled up with ray bans on and who do I see, all 3 Jo Bros chillin at a picnic table eating lunch craning their necks to see who I was! LOL, toooooo funny! Man Hollywood is so amazing!

I've included a couple pics from my camera phone, who knows someday soon I could utter that famous phrase, would make me pretty giddy too!

Recent Breaking News

Hello again!

During the horrible tragedy that Jennifer Hudson went throught with the triple murder of her family members, I was thrown on the air at E! to report the latest details. It was an incredibly busy day at work Here is one of the breaking news segments.

That same day I was also on CNN's Issues with Jane Velez Mitchell. That was an amazing experience and brought me back to my live TV days at KOMU-TV in Columbia, MO.

On a lighter note, I also got the honor of announcing Hill's stars Heidi and Spencer's recent marriage.

This time we used the actual news set! It was so cool! It's where Seacrest stands on a daily basis! I think he and I would make a great team, someday ;)

In addition to all these great opportunities, I'm shooting a pilot for E! on Monday with Ken Baker the gossip maker, that we think has a realistic chance of getting picked up! So excited to work on project from the very beginning with my man Ken Baker. If all goes well our show will be on E! international very soon. I'll be sure to keep you posted.

Back to School!

It's been so long since I've updated you guys sorry for the delay!

I recently went back to my Alma mater, the University of Missouri to speak for a group of aspiring entertainment journalists and to Emcee a film contest. It was a completely amazing and fulfilling experience. I felt so honored to be invited back and impart my knowledge of an industry that is still new to me. It was so cool to have eager studenst look up to me the way I looked at Linda Bell Blue (Exec producer of Entertainment Tonight) when she visited my Broadcast 1 class. I only hope that I can continue to inspire and help people achieve their dreams. I made my come true and I'm creating and fulfilling new ones every day.

The film contest which was sponsored by Apple was called iLife. It was really cool to see all the freshman made flicks and Emcee the show. I decided to do a rap to kick off the show in style and I think it went over very well! I hope to have video shortly! The winning video just happened to be called the Mizzou Rap! How funny, check it out here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDLPwkOlwO0

During my visit, I also got the chance to visit my papa. It was so great to see him. He was recently diagnosed with MS and is now living in wonderful facility that makes his treatment and everyday life so much easier. He is really happy there. While I was there, I did an impromptu performance for the patients along with the fabulous Drew Seeley and the amazing Brittany Paffrath. It was so much fun and really brightened their day.
I'll be heading back to Missouri very soon for Christmas and I can't wait to reconnect with family and friends. We will definitely revisit and do a Christmas show at Town and Country and are planning a visit to Barnes Children's Hospital to spread some holiday cheer! I encourage everyone to get out and find a way to give back this holiday season. MUAH! Happy Holidays!

LA Fashion week

If you know anything about me you know that I love fashion!
I even minored in Textile Apparel Management at MU.
My dream is to combine my love and passions and host a style show of some sort.
Style network is in my building so who knows!
I did get the pleasure of attending a few shows for LA fashion week.
I dragged Drew along to the Lauren Conrad show. I may not be a fan of the Hills, but my stylist here at E! Kit has gotten me some amazing clothes. Every time I wear something of LC's, the fit is great and the styles are cute! I even wore one for my big bday bash. My only gripe, WAY over priced! But then again, I personally don't buy it so its all good ;)

The other show I attended was for Tulle and Cloth. Great line! It was full of fun rich colors. I'd describe it as color pop prep. I went with Ken Baker the gossip maker from E! and my fab friend Christina Murphy. We had a blast! FYI, sticky bras tend to slip off when you sweat! And that's my fashion tip of the day! I'm now ready for all the hot fall looks. Be fashionable, take risks and have a blast doing it!

To finish off my week of events, I sadly had to decline my invite to HSM3 in order to attend the IWMF Courage in Journalism awards. Once I sat and listened to the stories of the 4 amazing women who were honored I knew this was where I was supposed to be. They were stories of heartache and sacrifice and above all courage and commitment to get the story out. I felt inspired to listen and be in the presence of such amazing women.
To find out about their stories, go to iwmf.org
You will definitely be moved by what you read. Get out there, better the world, and be fabulous empowered women.

Another Cinderella Story

Good day lovelies!

Tomorrow is the big day!

Drew's movie, Another Cinderella Story comes out out on DVD and Blu-ray!

I'm so excited for everyone to see it. He worked extremely hard on it and it paid off.

You'll see he's a true prince charming :-)

We went to the premiere yesterday which was a huge success and so much fun to be part of. It was great to see all of our friends who came out in support, Christina Murphy, Marc Blackwell, Stacey Gregg, Chucky Klapow, Brandon Slavanski, Taryn Southern and Emily Morris and Lucas Grabeel, even though we didn't see them :-)
Check out the pic to the left!
I also attended an event in honor of the make-a-wish foundation in San Diego on Friday night.
It was an amazing event for some very special little girls.

A quick thanks to Debbie Gething of dye4gething.com for always making me look fabulous and red-carpet ready!

I hope you all have a great week!

Much luv, and go pick up Cinderella story!

Goin out for a good cause

hey guys!

I went to a couple of great charity events this week.
First, the Visual Impact event benefiting Boys and Girls club of Hollywood and the Pepsi 500 Running wide open event. I ran into old friends at both events which is always fun. I got to catch up with Shane Drake, who directed me in Misery Business. He's up for a few VMA's this year! And Paramore is going to perform the hit Misery Business, maybe they'll play the vid, a girl can hope!

I love being involved in charities because it's so important to think beyond ourselves and do things, regarless of how big or small, to help others.
A small donation on your part could have a major impact on the person you give to.

Get inspired to give back!
We have blessed lives :-)

Have a great labor day weekend.

Perks of Hollywood

Living the Hollywood life means you get to experience certain perks that sadly, others don't.

Case in point, a random Tuesday at E! and its pure mayhem outside.

A little band called the Jonas Brothers are in the studio with Ryan Seacrest for a post Teen Choice interview. As expected, some fans camped out for two days to see the young pop stars.

While yours truly simply strolls in to another day at the office and gets the rare opportunity to chat with the boys. I'm later told by all my young fans how lucky I am. This is very true, I am extremely lucky. But then again I do believe Luck = Opportunity + Preparation. Nevertheless, Nick, Joe and Kevin certainly made a fan out of me. They are extremely polite and so good to their fans. Good to see some of young Hollywood is taking the high road, this stylish trio certainly is.

Teen Choice '08

I was fortunate enough to be invited to this years Teen Choice Awards.

It was a fun event indeed. I think I'm deaf for a few days do to the swarms of literally screeching teens, but I then remind myself I was one of those screeching teens just a few years ago.

My fave moments were ACDC kicking some major ass in the dance off, although Fergie gave the honor to hostess Miley's crew (no surprise there), the adorable Beckham boys in matching yellow polo's donnin Jabawakee's masks at one point, and finding an awesome pair of black RayBan's that no one in my section seemed to want to claim (I hope they're Zac Efrons!!!)

Next year, I'll either be presenting, hosting red carpet or supporting my boo as he accepts his surfboard for Choice Male :-) Only time will tell.

Ciao

Vegas, E! style

For the second part of my birthday I went to Sin City to celebrate with my girls.
We had to make an appearance at the E! Smashtime Party, hosted by my E! buds, Sal Masakala, Catt Sadler and Ben Lyons.

The Birthday Babe

I just celebrated my birthday and it was definitely a Happy one.

I am a great place in my life: with job I love and only thought possibly in my dreams, a great relationship and an amazing group of friends to send only positive energy!

It feels good that everything is falling into place.

I am feeling very content with things and am learning to be more patient.

At this point I feel that I have everything I need and anything more is just the cherry on top.

Of course I want to further my career, but I'm learning to be content with where i am and focus on the now. In Hollywood, it's all about what's next, and more more more! It's very easy to get sucked into that mentality, especially when people are always asking you "What else are you doing?"

I'm just staying focused on my amazing opportunity here at E! and counting my blessings every day!

Here's to more fabulous year than ever ;-)

Platinum Pen Interview

[Exclusive photo courtesy of Amy Paffrath, taken by Lisa Villasenor. Dress by Dye 4 Gething. Makeup by Casey Jo Cheek]
Several months ago, she was the main (albeit nameless) character of a chart-topping music video. Fast forward a few months later, Amy Christine Paffrath still has a lead role, but this time, her name is written all over it. As the friendly face and bubbly voice of E! News Now, and daily disher on Yo! on E!, Paffrath delivers the hottest celebrity 411 to viewers on a several-times-a-day basis—a dream come true for the Missouri-born beauty.Despite donning a killer bod, an adorable face, and as aforementioned, a fresh gig at the immensely popular E! Network, the newfound entertainment host still keeps it as down-to-earth and cool as ever (as cliché as that may sound). Heck, I’d hit the clubs with her!The Platinum Pen had the wonderful opportunity to interview Ms. Paffrath, who openly and happily dished about her confidence, her proud love for Hanson (yup, the MMM Bop-pers), how she landed her E! gig, boys (sorry fellas, this one’s taken!), living in the nine-double-oh-six-nine (also known as West Hollywood/WeHo for those of you non-Angelenos),and pretty much whatever else I pushed her way. And although you may not know her just yet, following this interview, you will definitely want to make her part of your entourage.
Oh yeah, and she totally digs her butt. I started off by asking Paffrath those generic LA/Hollywood questions. Her answers are listed below.
Favorite Bar in LA – Lola’s has THE BEST martinis
Favorite Club in LA – Changes all the time! I really like Goa at the moment, but Social and Blvd 3 can be really fun, too.
Favorite boutique in LA – I love the Fashion District. There is an amazing shoe store called Picasso’s shoes and they sell literally every type of shoe you could dream up! I also really like Mannequin on Melrose, they have fun funky stuff.
Favorite radio station in LA – KROQ
Favorite restaurant in LA – Too many! La Fritte in the Valley is a new fave.
Favorite website in general (besides The Platinum Pen, of course ;-) ) – EOnline!
Favorite album of all time – OMG, Hanson, "Middle of Nowhere." I LOVE it, it makes me happy all the time. I also love Hot Fuss by the Killers
Team LC or Team Heidi – They are both ridiculous, so I say Audrina [laughs]
Harvey Levin or Mario Lavendeira (Perez Hilton) – Perez
Favorite designer (doesn’t have to be LA-based) – Debbie Gething
Favorite body part (had to ask!) - Butt [wide grin]
The Platinum Pen: Now, speaking of Hollywood and LA and living the life, you just bought yourself a pretty lil thang, didn’tcha, in honor of your new gig at E! (which, big CONGRATS, btw!). Why don’t you tell the Platinum Pen about your gift to yourself? Didja name it?
Amy Paffrath: Thank you! I did, I had to congratulate myself since two years ago, I said "I wanna be a host at E!" and I can’t believe it actually happened! It was definitely time for a new one, so I bought a car! It is beautiful. It all started because my make up artist was looking for a new car and she had done all this research. She showed me one that she was considering and it was a VW Eso. I absolutely fell in love. I HAD to have it. At the time, I was just freelancing and I made a promise to myself that if I was offered the job, I would treat myself. Two weeks later, I’m cruising in my shiny new convertible. As of now it is still unnamed, I’m getting to know her first ;)
The Platinum Pen: That's awesome. As we know, in LA, it's very important to feel cozy in your "whip"—pardon my lingo. [laughs] Anyway, something kind of interesting. I noticed you had a role in the movie “Hauntsville.” Turns out an old friend I’ve known forever, Monique La Barr, had a role in the film as well. Did the two of you work together? Small world.
A.P.: Very small world! No, we weren’t in any scenes together. My character was seen in flashbacks. I can't say much about the character without giving away the plot, but I did meet her at the table read and she is very sweet! I still haven’t seen the finished film, let me know if Monique has!
The Platinum Pen: I'll have to get back to you on that, but let me know when the film comes out, as I would love to watch you guys on the big screen! Now as mentioned above, you just landed an exciting gig as one of the hosts of E! News Now. How did this come to be?
A.P.: I first auditioned for the show back in November. It was the same day I got my California license so I’m all glam in my picture. Anyhow, I read for Annie Roberts and the audition went great! I got a callback and that went great as well. Then, I heard NOTHING until February. I went in and auditioned a third time and after that they asked if I’d work two days as a test. So I came in and did my two days and apparently I passed the test because they asked me back to do two more, then two more after that. Then one day while I was at E! my manager called to tell me I’d been offered the position! I was so excited but I didn’t say anything at first because no one at E! said anything about it! I had a week off while my contract was negotiated and now I’m here for good!
The Platinum Pen: That's so great. I have to admit, I'm a total fan of your videos. I watch them all the time. You certainly possess a great sense of charisma. But assigning you an official title sounds like it was quite a process for E!. Like when people were in the process of auditioning for one of the two host positions available after Ashlan Gorse and Valery Ortiz left the department, I watched those videos on E!’s website, and good heavens! Some of the girls they brought in were hot disasters! Because this is Hollywood and all, cockiness is A-OK. So tell us the truth: Did you know from the get-go you had the gig in the bag?
A.P.: [laughs] I am definitely confident in my skills so I thought I’d be a natural choice. But after the three great auditions I was thinking, what they hell are they looking for? After I came in for the test, my optimism came back because I had such a great instant rapport with the staff. They were all giving me such great feedback and HUGE compliments. It was nice. I kept going back and forth like, "It’s gonna happen, maybe not, NO it IS gonna happen!" And then it did!
The Platinum Pen: Well I cannot congratulate you enough. What a wonderful accomplishment. I'm sure this will open an array of doors for you. What would you say is the easiest part of your job as a host of E! News Now? And what would you say is the most difficult part?
A.P.: Well since this is truly my area of expertise [grins] I find it all relatively painless. I’d say the easiest part for me is just being me in front of the camera. Letting personality shine though has always been easy for me. The hardest part is reading copy on the prompter and remembering to breathe and to lower my register. It’s the newsy voice we have, when you read sometimes your voice naturally wants to go up, but in news, we want it be low so that it is perfectly clear what we are trying to say. Sometimes you forget to take a breath or to speak from your diaphragm, so it can be a lot to think about at once, but I love it!
The Platinum Pen: My next question is so cliché, but I feel like I have to ask: What is your *ultimate* goal in this business?
A.P.: Wow. Honestly it has changed a little bit since I moved here. When I first moved to LA my dream was to be a host on E! and I’m so happy that I’m doing that. But I’ve also been really interested in acting, and I have done some really great projects. I’ve always said my ultimate goal is to be the female Ryan Seacrest. He’s juggling more jobs right now than most people have in a lifetime. I just want to be able to keep working, whether it be in films or as a host.
The Platinum Pen: Those are excellent goals to have, and I sincerely hope you achieve them. Now to move on from the career-related questions, but sticking with the theme of cliché questions, are you dating anyone? Who? Anyone juicy?
A.P.: I am. It is kind of juicy actually! His name is Drew Seeley and he is an actor/singer. He is the singing voice of Zac Efron in the first High School Musical and he has a movie with Selena Gomez coming out. Pardon my shameless plug. He is incredibly talented and so supportive of everything I do. I want to go on for hours about him because he’s just an amazing person and so fun to be around, but this article is about me!
The Platinum Pen: Aww...that's so cute. Really, it is. And depressing at the same time. Well not for you, but for me. But why are we talking about me? Okay, sorry to sidetrack. And wow, quite interesting that he was the singing voice of Zefron! I don't think most people know that. Thanks for the insider's scoop! So would it be redundant for me to ask who is the most famous person you’ve kissed? [laughs]
A.P.: You slick little girl you! Drew Seeley of course!
The Platinum Pen: Okay, okay, I get the point. Moving on, you had a really cool role as the main character in the music video for the chart-topping Paramore hit, “Misery Business.” You looked like you were having a lot of fun in the video. Have you done other music videos and do you have any in the works?
A.P.: "Misery Business" was an absolute blast and total surprise. I had no idea who Paramore was when we shot it. It was like 7 months later when it blew up. Such a surreal experience having my face on a jumbo-tron in Times Square! I have done 2 other videos, one was for the Malibu based band Whitestarr fronted by Cisco Adler. That was my very first acting role in LA. It was a great time and awesome opportunity. It’s a little bit racier than Misery Business, I play Cisco’s love interest, his “Sunshine Girl.” You might not recognize me, I’m blond! I don’t have any others lined up but I’d love to do more in the future, they are great!
The Platinum Pen: Speaking of which, what is your favorite music video of all time?
A.P.: Hmm, this question made me rack my brain! I really like Madonna and Justin’s "4 Minutes" video, it’s really cool!
The Platinum Pen: You grew up in Missouri, but you seem like you’ve adapted quite nicely to L.A. When you first moved out here, what was the most shocking thing to you? Like what was the most difficult thing to get adjusted to?
A.P.: I moved to LA in January 2006 so when I first got here is was rainy and cold! I was like what is this, I did not move 2500 miles for rain! I guess I just thought it was sunshine and rainbows all the time. Initially it was sort of shocking to me how many people live here and don’t really work. It was sort of shocking to hear all these young girls say they are actresses, yet they don’t take classes they don’t study; they are out all night partying hoping to be discovered at the club. Any man who tells you he is a producer while handing you a cocktail is not going to advance your career! The most difficult thing to adjust to was definitely the amount of time I spend in my car. It’s crazy. I didn’t realize LA was so spread out and it literally encompasses a 50 mile radius, so to say "I live in LA" could mean you live anywhere from downtown LA to the beach to the valley, it’s just HUGE!
The Platinum Pen: Wow, all of that is so true. Glad we see things similarly. Anyway, thank you for the interview, Amy! You rock. And you’re super cute! Keep up the good work on-cam and we look forward to checking out your future developments. We should grab coffee or lunch sometime and chat some more. Keep us Platinum Pen readers posted, ya hear? For more info on Amy Christine Paffrath and to catch her on-screen, click on the following:http://www.eonline.com/videoshttp://amychristinepaffrath.com/http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=14932463

I'm a Big Girl Now!

Today, May 19th is my first OFFICIAL day at E!
My contract has been finalized and I am getting cozied into my new office.
I feel like I'm all grown up now, finally, with my office, my salaray and my new car.
Yes I did it. I hunkered down and took out a lease all by myself on a beautiful new car. It's my congratulations gift to myself. E! is going to be an amazing place for me to grow and learn and I'm exstatic to be here. Whatever you want for your life, dream it and live it!

Life is what you make it.

Have a blessed day :-)

Weekends are made for...working!

It seems I always try to cram as much into one day as humanly possible! What can I say, I thrive when pushed and live for a bit of chaos in my life. This past weekend was no exception.
On Saturday I took an amazing class taught by Howard Fine and his incredible staff.
http://www.howardfine.com/
Of the 40 or so students in class, myself and my scene partner were amongst the 5 chosen to actually work in class. I discovered some things about myself that I was unaware of.
I hardly ever get nervous at auditions or when performing but something about this situation made me giddy with nervous energy. I was anxious to show this renown acting coach my skills, but scared of what he would say at the same time. To my relief, all three men on the panel had great things to say.
David Coury, the vocal coach, kept making comments about how fiery I am! That's pretty accurate. He also gave me some pointers on how to improve my voice. The way I pronounce my 'W's' being one of those little nuances that go unnoticed in my daily life.
Jean-Louis Rodrigue complemented my relaxed and confident persona, and Howard himself gave me some great pointers to improve performance. All in all it was a very helpful workshop.
Shortly after class I headed to meet a friend and help out with a pilot he is shooting. I can't say much but it involves puppets and humans living in the same society, ala Avenue Q. I haven't seen the finished product yet, but it was so much fun to shoot.
Sunday I started my day shooting a scene for my friend Jason Pagan's directing class at USC. I got to work with an extremely talented actress named Hollis Zemany (http://holliszemany.net). We did the scene a few times and by the last few takes we were kept getting stronger and better and Jason wanted to keep shooting. We wrapped around 2 and that gave me time to run home before heading out again for pick up shots.
I ended my weekend shooting just 3 short shots that were the missing links in Siamese Connection. Hopefully that will complete the project and I'll have something to show very soon. I'm proud of this project. It was complicated seeing as though I played my own twin, but fun. I'm always up for a challenge and adventure. Can't wait to see how it turns out!
Today I'm back at E! working away. There is a new Big Debate up today too. I go head to head with Deborah Wilson from MadTV, everyone loves two girls going at it, huh?

My Network Debut

I've only been at my new job a week and I already got to go on air.
Yesterday a little singer name MARIAH CAREY got hitched to NICK CANNON.
Thus, I got to break the story once it was confirmed, live on E!
It was very exciting and the best part is that my dad got to see it :-)

Thanks to everyone for your love and support.
It means so much.

Happy Friday!

I'vE! got News, Now

Hello my friends!
As you know I've been enjoying my test run at E! News Now very much.
I am proud and honored to let you know that I have been offered a position as an on air host.
I am thrilled about this new opportunity.
When I moved to LA two years ago, one of my goals was to be a host for E!
I can't believe it's actually gonna happen.
It's amazing what happens when you put your mind to something and actually go for it.
As of now, this announcement is still unofficial because contracts are still being negotiated but I've verbally accepted and look forward to the start of this journey.
As soon as the papers are signed and I have the concrete details, its celebration time.
For now, its time to toast the birthday boy, Drew Seeley! Happy Birthday!
